THE DREAM Witch eats a rat. I live in a caravan and I was asleep in my bed in the caravan. In the dream: I was dreaming that I was asleep in my bed in my caravan ( which I was) then I dreamt I woke up and the caravan was lit inside by the moon outside. I could see from my position on the bed the dirty dishes on the sink. A rustling came from there and I lay still a saw a rat crawl up from the sink and was eating scraps from the dishes. The window next to the sink was open. I lay there disgusted that there was a rat on the dishes at night. I lay quietly watching it considering what to do (whether to get up and scare it away or wait until the morning and clean so it didn't come back, killing it wasn't an option). As I lay there an old wrinkled hand came through the window ( the hand had a ring on the wedding finger) and with stealth and practice snatched the rat out through the window by the tail. I froze in my bed scared. I heard from outside the window the unmistakable sound of a crunch, another crunch and a swallow. I could not see outside the window but a vision in my mind told me that there was a witch outside who had just caught the rat and ate it for her midnight dinner. I had a feeling that the witch was often creeping at night but this was the first time I had woken and become aware of it. Next I heard a thud on the roof of the caravan and I knew that the witch ( typical fairytale old lady with hat etc,) was on the roof of the caravan. She was muttering to herself something about sage and clovers and I saw some herbs dangle down outside another window. I knew the witches plan: to sedate my partner and I with the smell of the strong herbs so that we would stay in the caravan, hopefully drawing rats to the van so that she could regularly feed. I told myself that I would not allow myself to be drugged by her by even as I thought these things a strong smell entered my nostrils and I fell back asleep. The whole dream had a very magical and mystical feel to it, and although a little scary I was not overly scared, nor was it a nightmare. My primary concern was to remain quiet to determine if she meant us harm.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION The dreamer was angry with her mother who has considerable wealth yet is only interested in her own selfish desires. The dreamer was currently living in a caravan whilst her mother had two houses. She dreamer had been promised one of the houses yet the mother came to live with them. She proved so difficult to live with that the dreamer moved out to live in the caravan. She is often unbearably nosy and questions a lot. She had recently bought someone a present in the hope they would buy her a ring that she wanted. This kind of obsession with materialism annoyed the dreamer. Her mother tried to portray herself as generous yet she was very selfish.
