THE DREAM I had several dreams during the night about the post Cold War rivalry between Russia and the West. I cannot remember everything but sometimes the Americans were winning. One time the Russians won. They were also supposed to be friends now like after the end of the cold war. Yet one side dared to win over the other. There was this undeclared competitive rivalry between them.

REAL LIFE The dreamer was friends with someone. They were also running their own businesses which were technically rivals of each other.

DREAM ANALYSIS Just recently the dreamer had developed a friendship with a business rival. The Cold War rivalry between America and Russia is an excellent metaphor for this business rival. The USA and Russia supposedly became friends after the end of the Cold War. Yet ever since that they are still rivals and still push each other to the limit.

The metaphor of the cold war is extremely accurate for this real life situation. The Cold War ended and there was a honeymoon period when the USA and Russia appeared to be genuinely friends. But as time has gone by both have pushed each other to the limit.

Overall the dream captures this feeling "We both hold a strong position within our industry and we both respect each other. We have become good friends but sometimes there is that undercurrent of rivalry between us."
