THE DREAM A man dreamed of hearing people laugh when he asked them if it was possible to be with a girl he liked.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION In waking life he soon realized that being with the girl he liked was impossible and even ridiculous because he was much older. He was trying to conceal his attraction because he knew it would make him look ridiculous if people knew he had a crush on this girl.
DREAM ANALYSIS: It is sensible to take this dream as fairly literal. The dreamer did have an attraction to a girl much younger than him. He knew it was really impossible and impractical to have a relationship. The laughing in the dream was a symbol for how ridiculous this would look.
The dream probably captures this type of feeling "I need to conceal my sexual attraction for her. If it became public that I was sexually attracted to her then I would be a laughing stock as I am much older than her."
